Locus of Control
These two videos offer a insightful explanation of Rotter's Locus of Control. Our Locus of Control can be considered a sliding scale with individuals operating from either an internal, or external perspective. However, there is always one dominant side. A person with an individual with an internal locus takes responsibility for their own actions, and gauges how they are affected by their environment. An individual with an external locus of control is a powerless person, and they will try to make other people responsible for their happiness.
Here is a good example of someone who suffers from social anxiety. This is a problem that affects many thousands of people and stops them from achieving things they want in life. It is often written off as something only introverts suffer from, but this is far from the actual truth. Social anxiety affects people in different ways, but the most important characteristic is worrying, and trying to second guess what others think of us. Hypnotherapy, and psychoanalytic counselling can help you understand and change these habits.
Admiral WIlliam McRaven's Speech to University of Texas Graduate Community
Yesterday I was forwarded this really exiting speech delivered by Admiral William McRaven. The tips that he gave to the University of Texas graduate students were valuable lessons that have taken him a lifetime to learn. They are transferrable skills which convert into ordinary every day life, to help people live the life they aspire to while realising to accomplish it may not always be easy. The first lesson was so simple, "make your bed" and what Admiral William McRaven implied was that if you begin your day by making your bed this is the first task of the day, and if you finish the task well you can continue through your goals of the day completing each task to a good standard. If you are interested a Navy SEAL is a member of a Naval Special Warfare unit who are trained for unconventional warfare: SEAL is an acronym for Sea, Air, Land.
