About Hypnosis in Hampshire

Information questions & Answers regarding Hypnosis

What does hypnosis feel like?

Close the door, turn off the TV/radio, sit down in a comfy chair, by yourself, and close your eyes - that’s what it feels like,  a bit  like daydreaming. There is no such thing as a hypnotised feeling, just a feeling of being calm and relaxed.  All of us at some time are subjects of self hypnosis.

Have your thoughts ever drifted during a car journey?

Self hypnosis is when you arrive at your destination, and wonder, ‘how did I get here?’ This form of self hypnosis is called ‘Highway hypnosis’. It’s when the part of your mind taking care of things like breathing, and swallowing has taken over because it understands how to protect you. It knows its dangerous for the thinking/reasoning part to daydream, and have no one take care of business. So it steps in and does the job automatically - its like a well trod familiar path you walk, with no thought other than - it’s taking you home.

How does hypnosis work?

The therapist talks to the part of the mind that does things automatically using clear, and easily understood phrases. For example, ‘What about this ….. - have you thought about that…..? It presents a new belief, a belief that you want, but can’t ask yourself. Hypnosis offers this state of deep relaxation where your mind can accept the suggestions offered that will help you most. This is no different to the kind of relationship you share with a doctor or dentist who suggests a treatment, and you trust him to do the right thing.

In fact, because you decide whether or not you want to experience hypnosis it can be said that, all hypnosis is self hypnosis, and you use it by accepting the new belief in place of the old.

What symptoms can be treated with hypnosis?

I have successfully treated many different symptoms and complaints using Hypnosis/Pure Hypno-analysis. Hypnosis facilitates the release those ‘bottled-up’ emotions which manifest as fears, phobias, anxiety and panic attacks. and the state of deep relaxation achieved by hypnosis allows you to resolve your own problems.

There are two types of Hypnotherapy:
Suggestion hypnosis
Pure Hypnoanalysis (Analytical Hypnosis)

During the no obligation free initial consultation we can discuss and agree on the type of therapy appropriate for your needs. For example suggestion hypnosis; usually takes one or two sessions with an occasional final booster, and can be used with issues such as:

  • Weight Loss hypnosis
  • Quit smoking hypnosis
  • Fear of flying hypnosis

Relaxation therapy is beneficial when you are feeling a little stressed or anxious.

Pure-Hypnoanalysis is a specialist technique that usually takes between 8-12 sessions, and is used to seek the cause of symptoms, such as:

  • Panic attacks
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Stuttering
  • Emetaphobia (fear of being sick)
