Lose weight hypnosis

Weight loss in Fareham Hampshire using hypnotherapy

Call me to arrange your free, no obligation consultation. My clinic is situated in comfortable informal surroundings, where we can discuss the kind of therapy that is right for you, and for me to answer any questions you might have.

Weight loss - understanding the problem

Pure-hypnoanalysis helps the release of ‘bottled-up’ emotion, and self limiting beliefs which so often accompany weight problems, and anxiety around food. This efficient, effective therapy works by helping us to understand our behaviour, and what we understand makes change easier. Unwanted eating habits can feel like being caught in a loop, because at a sub-conscious level we are trying to feed our negative emotions with food, and this is an impossible task. The food makes us feel better for a little while, but those feelings soon pass and are replaced with feelings of guilt and shame.

Alternatively, you may be struggling to lose the final, difficult to budge, 10lbs to reach your goal weight. If you have worked at your diet and exercise routine relentlessly, it can be frustrating not to be able to achieve it. For this kind of weight reduction we have designed a ’Three Phase Programme’ to help maintain motivation toward your goal. This therapy can really help you think differently about food and mealtimes, and gain some insight into the difficulty.

Eating disorders

The two most recognised disorders are termed, ‘Anorexia nervosa’, and ‘Bulimia nervosa’ both are psychiatric diagnoses characterised by the obsessive need to control weight. Bulimia is a word derived from Latin and Greek languages meaning ‘ravenous hunger’, and anorexia is derived from a Greek term, meaning ‘lack of desire to eat’. Sufferers of Anorexia use different methods to control their weight for example, purging with laxatives, vomiting, voluntary starvation, and diuretics. Again, there is the overwhelming need for control over one’s own body, and there are biological, psychological, neurobiological, and sociological components within these disorders.

Food cravings

Craving for certain types of food can occur when we are feeling emotional. Some people eat more when they are happy and content, and others when they are sad and. During pregnancy hormone levels fluctuate, and women experience cravings for certain types of food. When we age, and become less active we require fewer calories, but because we are used to consuming a certain volume each day we simply continue to do so, and again the pounds pile on.

Emotion and its link with weight Loss or weight Gain
When we think of weight gain or weight loss, and how each of us perceive it differently - whether or not we are uneasy around food to a lesser or a greater degree (such as Anorexia or Bulimia) our control over our weight appears to be surrounded by emotions. Some of us are overweight because we feel emotionally spent, and comfort eating is a way of trying to fill the emotional void felt inside.

I’ve touched upon a few reasons when, and why we are likely to put on weight or lose it, but emotional issues of anxiety, and self-image come high on the list. For instance, the physical feelings of emptiness or hollowness we can feel during, and after times of stress or anxiety. These kinds of strong emotion can trick us into thinking we are hungry when we aren’t. It is an impossible task to feed an emotion with food, the emotion has to be dealt with before any kind of dietary change can be brought about.

Can we control what we eat in a healthy way?

Hypnosis is an effective tool in helping us view our weight reduction goal from an different perspective, it also aids awareness of what we eat, and when we eat it.
